Bad engine. Need suggestions.
I'm not sure where to post this so if I’m in the wrong area please direct me to the right place. But I have decided to buy a new engine instead of rebuilding the current one. It is a 350 in an 89 GTA. So I need suggestions of what 350 I should buy. I found this engine GM Performance Parts 350 C.I.D. VIN Code K Engine Assemblies: NAL-12568758 - summitracing.com it looks like it is a good replacement but it says for trucks but I know that most small blocks will fit in to anything that had a small block before. Anyways if anyone thinks getting that engine is a bad idea please tell me.
P.S. If that link does not work it is at Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 and the part number is NAL-12568758

That would be a significant downgrade.
For about the same money, you can get a quality rebuild that will maintain or improve your original engine. I'd suggest you contact these guys 1987-1992 CHEVY 350 / 5.7 ENGINE - CHEVY ENGINES 87-92 . My brother has had an engine from them for almost 2 years, completely happy with it and the way they did business.

383, I'd agree with you. 396 brings on a whole new set of issues.
