help with ls2 swap!!!!
guys i found an ls2 brand new on a web site for 5100 with a carbed intake instead of fuel injection.(my car is carbed now and want to keep it that way) it is 440 hp and 412 ft.lbs. of torque. im thinking about it but what would i need to worry about with putting it in as far as the cross member and engine mounts, oil pan difference, headers fitting, and i am planning on swapping my t5 trans for a tremec t5, will that even bolt up?. id prob upgrade the heads and cam for some more ponies, but i like the idea of something different and its a vette motor. lol. help me out guys!

it will work ok as long as you have the msd carb stuff to go with it to run the ignition. from there just use the ls1 swap parts because they are all the same. ls1 swap headers work, ls1 swap motor mounts work, ect. from a tranny i would get a t56 from an ls1 fbody. the tremec t5 wont fit. you HAVE to make sure the tranny came from an ls1 fbody or it wont fit either. then you also need an ls1 fbody oil pan and maybe other oil related parts. im not sure of those.

1bdbrd summed it up pretty well.
With a carb'd engine, an LS2 swap is going to be identical to an LS1 swap as far as mounting the engine in the bay. LS1 T56 transmission from an f-body, LS1 f-body oil pan, and you're all set.
LS2 engines are completely compatible with LS1 and LS6 engines when it comes to aftermarket mods. Same heads (although the LQ9 truck heads have a 4" bore the same as the LS2 block), same cams, etc. Hawks makes LSx swap headers for third gens (4th gen headers will NOT fit), or you can make your own as some have done.
