1990 Camaro fuel injected v6 to carbed v8 swap
Hey all you guys, i have a question
i have a 1990 Camaro RS with a fuel injected 3.1 Liter v6 and i am going to swap it with a 5.7 Liter 350 because my motor is blown, so i was wondering if anyone knows anything about what i will have to change, i was hearing i might have to change the hood to a cowl induction, if i could i dont want to and all of the fuel pump situations, what do i have to do and what would be the right way to go about doing it
thanks

What I did when I went from FI to carbed is pull the tank and replace the pick-up with a carbed pick up. This is allows you to simplify the lines and related hardware. I run a Edelbrock Performer mechanical pump and it works fine. Make sure you cut the electrical lines to your existing pick up as you will graft them to the carbed p/u, if you choose that route.
You'll need springs from a V8. The bolt holes to mount V8 frame mounts already exist on your frame. I believe there is no change to the tranny mount and driveshaft...you'll have to verify that.
You'll have to round up a regular carbed HEI for a V8. Would probably make life easier if you could round up an electrical schematic for your car. You'll have a hot wire from your existing distributor that you'll be reusing as well as reusing your tach wire.

Most of what you're asking is addressed in the V6 to V8 sticky at the the top of this forum.
