i've got a 1992 trans am 305tpi 5spd trans, and i wanted to rebuild a 350 bottom end and bolt the tpi stuff on to the 350. and what do i do about the computer, i know i can't just have the computer tuned i have to get a chip made and plug it in, could you give me more info on the whole computer issue and putting the tpi parts on the 350?

You will need a memcal for a 350(I used one for a vette), injectors and knock sensor for a 350 and that should do it. I hope you are not going to reuse the 305 heads. They are good heads, but they will raise your compression ratio a lot. I have done this swap in a 91 Formula and I had no problems.

The memcal is the little blue "chip" in the ecm. It holds the program for your setup. They are specific to 305 or 350. I think the 305 will give you something close to 10.5:1. You also need to be careful with cam choice. TPI setups can only handle so much cam without a lot of custom programming.

If you are building a new 350 bottom end, then use the 305 heads. Just choose pistons with having 58cc chambers in mind, instead of 64cc. Not a big deal.
