2.8l swap to a 305,350 or 383 stroker
i have a stock 84 camaro with new paint and a new 2.8l crate motor less then a year old. i would like to have more power out of my camaro and wondering what i should do to get more power i have three blocks waiting to be rebuilt in my garage and wondering which one i should us, i have two 305 and one four bolt main 350, also what should i do to it should i leave it as a 350 or stroke it. also what should i use as a trany and rear gears and is there any thing else i will have to change to run a SB in my camaro.

The 2.8 tranny and stuff is different from the V8 parts, best to get a complete drive train if possible. Then you'll need the V8 third gen motor mounts on the frame. Kind of a tough job to get them changed as the bolts are not accessible. :Your rear gear would be fine with most build ups.

Start by reading the V6 to V8 swap sticky at the top of this forum. That will give you an idea what it takes to install a SBC in place of a v6.
Whether you do a 350 or 383 depends upon how much money you want to spend above and beyond the 350 rebuild. It complicates things a little bit, but even a 350 would be a huge step up from the 173.
What did the 350 come out of? What heads do you have or were you planning on using on it? That is important, and becomes even more critical on a 383.
The 305 blocks are best used for boat anchors, novelty coffee tables, etc.

the 350 block # is 3910010 and the heads i have are 3998991 they are 350 heads and the 305 are 14014416. i now 305 heads ill fit but are they worth putting on a 383. and will the 2.8l trany mounts work on the 350 trany thanks jason

The 416's would make more power on a 383 than the 991's would. You'd just have to be aware of compression control. With 1.94" intake valves and basic port work, the 416's would run circles around the 991's.
