'82 Camaro without ECM, having electrical problems

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I've bought a Z28 without the ECM controlling the fuelmixture and ignition and a non electrical carb. It ran pretty good, @ least for the trip home.
Because an idiot took the ecm out, the dash was full of wires and switches. I didn't think I needed them, so I removed them but now my engine won't turn but the relay is working.
Now my question is, should i keep the harness and find the problem or should I replace the harness with one for a carb engine? the Z28 is an automatic.

I live in the Netherlands and a car older then 20 doesn't need an emission for cleaner xhaust gasses.( no EGR no Pulseair or that kinda horsesh*t)
I hope you guys can help me out.

you can go a couple different routes. if you feel good about electrical you can ditch everything (with the engine)and start over powering only what needs to be powered or maybe if you dont feel so go you could find another harness and put it back.
when i swaped to carb the first time i got a one wire hei from a 70-something gm. then all you need is 12v through a switch to the distributer. then you probably need a tq lockup for the trans. search the trans area for that. i did my own wiring rather than try to find a harness to work.

I'm not that good in electrics but it isn't hard to figure it out, so maybe I'll try to keep the harness and try to let everything work right.
But how is it possible that when I turn my key to start my engien I only here the starterrelay and my starter won't turn? My batteries are not that good but good enough to turn the engine.
I hope you know some answers to this.

Either charge the battery, clean the contacts or replace it if you know it's not good and go from there. Don't waste time till you eliminate the possibility of it just being the battery.

Can you tell me why my starter turns the engine when I connect plus to ground of my starter, and if I turn my key it won't turn at all?

I'm from a small village called Naaldwijk close to Den Hague.

Everything is wired as it supposed to be, the last owner(s) had the ecm removed and every wire that's connected to it, in order to run the car they made short cuts and some switches.
The day after I got my car I've removed everything from the interior except the wiring harness. When i was planned to do a compression test the engine didn't turn at all. I've only removed the things that didin't belong in the system but maybe beacause of the ECM missing, I've removed something in order to start the engine.
The problem is I only have sparetime in the evening and during the weekend
and because it gets dark pretty quick here, I'll have to use a light in order to work on this project
