If the heads are on the engine you can get the block id number off the rear flange of the block where the tranny bolts up. Then call GM or a local machine shop and they can tell you what you have. If the heads are off you can measure across the cylinders. A 305 has a 3.735 bore and a 350 has a 4.000 bore.
