lt1 cooling problem

hello everybody, this is one of my first posts and definately not my last, any way my question is i have a weird cooling prob with my lt1, me and my freind just changed out the water pump and i had the radiator re cored. i did have a problem with my fans on my car not working but i chnged the relays and they seem to work fine now. the problem is we bled the cooling system like its supposed to be done and the car is overheating bad itll run around 220 for a good while and the temp will go down to 180 which is fine but the moment i drive it it starts going above 220 and just keeps going up. we bled the coolant a bunch of times and it didnt help. anyway im just wondering if anybody else has had the same prob. is there some sort of vacum bleeder im supposed to use? any respose would be greatly appreciated.

How did you bleed it? There is a screw on the thermostat housing that you should open up (with a rag under it to keep coolant off of the opti) and run the car. I also had my radiator cap open as well to make sure that coolant was flowing and havn't had a problem since doing this.

thats the same way i bled mine, could it be a faulty thermo? i am having an odd prob with the secondary fan clicking on and off very quickly and not staying on. only thing is that i dont know the wiring very well on the car. the secondary fan is wired to the ac thats about all i know. it should be running at the right temp cause everything has been bled the right way.

could this be a problem caused by my radiator? i just had it re cored. i dont think the heads are cracked or any gaskets are blown cause i checked my oil and theres no water in it at all, it looks perfect. any ideas?

Test the thermostat. Take it out, let it cool to room temperature. Find a metal pan/saucer, put some water in it, put it on the stove and start heating it up. Throw in the t-stat. If you don't have a thermometer, then almost before it starts boiling the t-stat should open.
