Well while it would be easier to put a 350 in, instead of rebuilding the 305, you wouldn't want to use the same heads or throttle body setup from the 305 because it wouldn't perform well at all! I would reccommend a straight up 305 short block swap or just have your short block rebuilt!

I could never in good conscience recommend a 305 rebuild. As stated above, the heads on your particular engine are particularly bad - fine for what the factory did, but no good for anything above that. So, if you go with a 350, get different heads as well.
The details there are involved, so it's best if you ask specific questions yourself. Whatever you do, don't just get any old 350 and assume it will work and fit - well, it can be made to fit, and it can be made to work, but how easily and how well are the questions. So, ask here first before you buy.
Even if you do get a proper 350 in there, that's not the end of the story. The computer will have to be reprogrammed, because again, it worked fine as the factory delivered it, but needs programming changes if you make changes such as exhaust and engine displacement. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the TBI, it just needs help to work better and properly on a 350.

If you stick with the TBI set-up, the TBI forum is a better source of information. They have stickies at the top of the forum that discuss what's needed to get a TBI engine running well, either 305 or 350.
