Re: Thinking Swap??? 350,400 or GN Motor

I think the simplest swap would be the 350/400 or you could consider the 383 like me... Fairly straightfoward to swap to a V8, although the GN setup would be just cool to have...

Re: Thinking Swap??? 350,400 or GN Motor

A 350 swap is the easiest. Followed by a 383, or 400, which is only slightly more difficult (slightly).
A GN motor would be a completely different ballpark in difficulty. If this is a first engine swap (sounds like it is), i'd stick to the easy ones. You'll have enough problems as is.

Re: Thinking Swap??? 350,400 or GN Motor

the gn motor will bolt in using the v6 motor mounts and the v6 holes in the k-member. then the rest is just hooking up and running the wiring harness.

As long as you get the TTA wiring harness(big $$$) it's not that hard of a swap. Just little odds and ends here and there. The only real decision you need to make is what trans to run.

use the GN drivetrain harness. and leave the f-body body harness.
200-4Rs are great for that engine, but if your putting a 3400lb car in the 9s you might want to consider a th400. either one of those would be more than sufficiant.

Not everyone wants to piece together a wiring harness. It's not THAT bad but I despise wiring

Been discussed many, many times, and there's a tech article on it.
