30k, 10k for the car 8k for the motor&trans 3k for the exaust and the rest on miss. and we still need a rearend, rear suspention and a few other things. notice the c5 brakes up front and they still fit the stock 16's

Re: 92z/ls2

Thanks it was pretty staight forward the motor and trans are out of an 05 GOT so we just changed what we had to for f-body stuff. Sphon k-member & torq arm for the lxs, speartech wiring harness modification (98 ls1 oil press sender and h2o temp sender), ls1 f-body rad & hoses (fans will be changed to the ls1 as well) w power stering cooler custom power stering press hose and adapters made it -6an, f-body oil pan, pick up and windage try, throw out bearing for an ls1 f-body,as well as the clutch master cylinder, shifter. the peadels are out of an 80's v6 car but there all the same 82-02 just minor variations. We did have to fabricate an adaptor for the gas pedel (out of a vett) since the LS2 is drive by wire vs cable. We are going to get the a/c working shortly and the plan is to use an ls1 commpresor and vintage air adaptor's and fittings. The best thing was we waited till we had all the parts needed before we started and we learned as we went.

Re: 92z/ls2

Another question for ya. How much bolstering did you have to do to your suspension and where did you get the motor mounts? By the way thanks for all the info. your project is something Im pursuing and your info. is helping me out.

Re: 92z/ls2

The original suspension was replaced with KYB shocks and Eibach springs(black), I wanted to keep a streetable ride hight. All new steering components by MOOG and energy suspenson bushings. The motor mounts are for 98-02 f-body I bought them new from the dealership, but you can pick them up alot cheaper on ebay and replace the ruber mount for a poly, if its well worn. Everthing fell into place with the Spohn K-member. Don't forget all the misc. items you"ll need i.e. nuts, bolts etc. This is my car that my bro had posted up for me.

How much wiring did you have to change out or re-wire?

Re: 92z/ls2

I had to send in part of the original engine harness to Speartech Fuel injection to splice into the rest of the system. I used a GTO engine so it cost more($1,000) because of the blue connector on the ecm, it had to be fabed up to work with my car plus the drve by wire system. If you use a LS1 eng. it's much cheaper. It bolted in with no problems and everything worked fine. I did have to buy a signal converter for the factory speedo and the tach, from Dakota Digital, so they would read acurate. They were only about $80 each.

Re: 92z/ls2

I am currently running the stock rearend w/gears, but it is a weak 10 bolt, so as soon as I can get my original eng. and tranny sold I'll be using the cash for a Moser 9". I will also be putting on a new panhard rod and trailing arms. The rear end is all I have left to replace, the rest of the drivetrain is new.

Re: 92z/ls2

Damn man! When your ride is finished it will be one of the sickest rides Ive seen in a while. I can only hope Ill have a ride that can even come close to that caliber of ride. Thanks for all the information. Youve sent me off in the right direction I think. But if there are any more tid bits that you wanna tell me go right on ahead.

Re: 92z/ls2

Thanks man. The car still has a little way to go before it's done. I have a head and cam package I was going to install this weekend, but the wheather did'nt cooperate until yesterday, so I'll have to wait until it's dry. Then I'll be adding some type of power adder NOS or procharger,if I can get a good deal. It's almost implosible to list all the little things I had to buy, my brother and I learned as we went along. Their were hundreds of runs to the parts and hardware store, but the best thing to do is get as much stuff as you can possibly get. Any specialty items i,e. K-member, torqe arm, etc.. are built to order, if you are changing this stuff out. Thats what i did. I had stuff for about 6 months before I started working on the car. I didn't want to start and stop working, I wanted to keep the momentum going. Some stuff was custom built like my exhaust. Good luck with your project, if you have any more questions just asked.

Geez... Yeah I was curious about your exhaust I just hadnt asked. How much did it run you to customize that Bassani Exhaust to fit your car! Is it a good fit our could you see it causing problems down the road?

Re: 92z/ls2

My exhaust totaled out to about $3000. The headers are from Hawks third gen w/2.5 collector. Once again looking for streetability with ground clearence. The Bassani kit was for a fourth gen LS car and the cats are dynatech. I had to make the kit meet the headers witch required custom bends and welding and a little cutting of the crossmember, but without sacrificing the integrity of the crossmember itself. The entire system fits great and is 304 stainless steel so I do not anticipate any problems with the system. I am very pleased with the sound of the car, their is not any interior resonence or drone at highway speed, makes it easy to drive long distances and listen to some good tunes.

Re: 92z/ls2

Yeah I bet you are satisfied with that exhaust. That thing sounds like an 8 cylinder symphony from what I heard in that video. Bassanis are bad. My cars originally a 6 cylinder automatic right now but Im making all the preparations to make it a 8 cylinder manual so I have my work cut out for me. But if mine turns out to be anything like yours Ill be greatly satisfied.

Re: 92z/ls2

Does the car seem nose heavy or hinder handling with the LS2 in it?
