Has anyone ever purchased the 383 87-95 TBI 390HP / 456 FT. torque motor from motorcrate engines on Ebay? I plan on getting one for my 91 RS and I've been talking with Brian from TBI chips and he can make a custom chip for my computer and I just have to do a few upgrades for it to work. I was wondering if anyone here has done this with this motor?

I'm not sure I've heard of a 400-HP TBI engine. Might be out there, I don't spend a lot of time on the TBI forum. Perhaps you should ask there and on the Aftermarket Vendor forum.

The "few upgrades" has to include full exhaust. That will run you somewhere around $1000. Also not likely to get the chip right the first time, hopefully reflash is included.

 

Im building a 383 tbi now for my 92 rs and I was talking with the guys at turbo city about a chip for the car. One of the things you have to watch out is the cam size. I was told that you really dont want to go over.212 @ .050 duration or your going to have real problems at idle. I also had to order #68 injectors to put in my tbi which were kinda costly.
