Good Combo?

Alright advanced gave me 1366 for a 79 z28 350.... after tseeing their numbers... that's a no

now.... i went and looked at 70-73

comparing hp, tq, and compression ratios

70 had the 300hp and 320tq at 10.25
71 had 330hp and 360tq at 9.0
72 had 255hp and 280tq. at 9.0

alright but all of these but the 71 had crappy rochester carbs

which one of those motors with a TB , performer intake, MSD ignition, and shortys would be most streetable with a 2400 stall and 3.42s???

and..... can my stock TB, injectors, and fuel pump, (with a tune) keep up with one of those motors?

i'm going this weekend to talk to a machine shop about other options

Standard 4-bbl 350, q-jet. No way they produced that as-installed in the car - small single snorkel, restrictive exhaust manifolds, single exhaust.

De-tuned LT-1.

New "net" flywheel horsepower rating. Same engine as the '70 version with lower compression - leading the way to lead-free gasoline and catalytic converters.

You've got a severe blind spot there.

Forget trying to mimic a stock combination. Today's cams and heads are far superior to that stuff, and you'll get the best results by putting together a "modern" combination.

Re: Good Combo?

I'm glad you could decode that cryptic post Five7, I would have given up.

Re: Good Combo?

You're better off getting quoted for a 1989 T/A with a vin code 8 350. That is the best combo for your above listed parts if you are using a "stock" reman engine from advance auto.

It has a nice cam profile that works well with your computer (roller, too) and will be a really nice upgrade. You'll see when you drive it!

I assumed that meant $1366 for a reman engine.
