Buick 455 Swap?

I want to put a 1974 buick 455 engine in my 1982 fire chicken. I need all the information I can get! Has anyone heard of this being done? If So, what needs to be done?

Thanx!

PLAN PLAN PLAN PLAN !!!
Will your tranny bolt up ? Flex plate ?
Motor mounts.
MEASURE !! Fan shrouds, and such. Exhaust and routing.
Acessory mounts, like power steering, air conditioning, alternator.....
You planning carb, or EFI ? ( mine is EFI )

Matt, try reaching out to these guys, as they did the swap, and could definitely help you out. Don't remember the UserID for this board, but you could contact him through you-tube. Click Here....

Re: Buick 455 Swap?

It has been done before. I remember seeing a trans am in hot rod a few years ago that had a 455 buick in it and it looked stock. the one thing i remember that stood out in the story was that stock manifolds were the only way to get an exhaust on the car.

I saw one at the track a few years ago. The thing was pitifully slow.

Re: Buick 455 Swap?

Search "Magilla" on this forum. You will see the 87 T/A that runs 11's with a mild 455 Buick...

AND THEN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
