ZZ4 vs. LS1 HP & Torque
These look right?

The LS1 is for a Vette engine, not sure what year they're basing that off of, just said "C5". It's the only torque curve I could find in my Googleing.
Trying to get an idea of what to expect when the current ZZ4 clone/TH700/2500 stall/2.93 is replaced with the 2000 LS1/T56/4.10. Gears alone are going to make a big difference, I know.

Re: ZZ4 vs. LS1 HP & Torque
I can tell you this five7, a local guy here put a TSP Torquer v.2 in his 2000 SS and put down This is RWHP through a 6-speed and 3.42's
398hp/354tq(SAE). STD was 403hp, but I consider the SAE correct. Fuel curve looked great (smooth gradual fall from about 13.4 to 12.8) with 28 degrees of timing and 0 KR. I tried adding a couple degrees of timing and leaned it out, but it dropped 9 horsepower. Of course it was pouring rain too. Temp was 92 degrees according to the dyno. 1st 20 minutes hot and humid, then a 15 minute downpour, remainder of my hour was back to sunny & hot. I had hoped for 10 or 15 more horses, but it is what it is. Not bad for a driver with no power adders though.

Those numbers are all flywheel.
The LS1 is a much better engine and that's what I'm planning on going into my 85 Monte Carlo SS. Thought about both a small block and LT1 but think I'm going LSx. Its just a better all around combo.
Torquer is a cam from Texas Speed. There are tons of great power making cams out there for the LS1 and some can hit 400rwhp cam only.

Pretty sure he has beehives in it, seems to be a trend around this area if one person gets something that works right in one motor, everyone gets 'em.

Was wondering if they are the stock beehives, or aftermarket.

If you're going to run close to or over .600 lift, get the PRC dual valvesprings. Patriot also sells them. Very nice springs.

Re: ZZ4 vs. LS1 HP & Torque
because of the agressive nature of most aftermarket cam profiles, and because the stock springs are bearly adaquate for the stock cam, every stock LS1 cam swap needs new aftermarket springs and pushrods.
i USED to reccomend the comp cams 918.. they're a direct fit beehive spring and were very popular. very reliable. and inexpensive.
however, comp cams changed suppliers. they are now unreliable, and prone to breaking.
the OLD supplier to comp cams, does sell them to the public at a very reasonable price.. i highly reccomend them, however, i cant think of the name of the company at the moment... a search on LS1tech might turn them up, but im about to leave work here.
the LS1 world is a whole nother game.. theres companies you wont hear of outside of it... and things like cams have names.. lol oh, and there are a ton of three letter acronyms. lol.
