old 305 spun bearing new 305 (300 ponies!)
hi everyone.
my old 305 spun a bearing after i modified it to where it had nuggets the size of a bulls nugs.
from the 7 years of it sitting outside without care. and me driving it .
well.
she didnt last too long go figure
well anyway.
this f-body is my only source of transportation.
luckily one of the guys i work with has a built 305.
it was in his friends monte and it put down 300 horses to the rear wheels.
i think thats decent.
then again im a honda guy who is used to 200 to the wheels.
haha
ok well i should have taken pics before removing everything i did already but i figured id let you know its a fairly easy swap.
considering this is my first time doing a v8 swap.
not bad if you have your basic tools and a decent knowledge and understanding of cars.
so here are some pics.

i just dropped the y pipe, the starter,
removed bell housing bolts, torque converter bolts
and motor mount bolts.
cleared the front of the engine. set aside the engine harness. so tomorrow , provided it does not rain. i will asemble my engine hoist and pull the worn out 305 with a freshly rebuilt one.
keep posted if you are interested.

What are you going to do for exhaust with the new engine?
Of course, you are going to clean up the engine compartment before the new one goes in, right???

ok well. i got some flowtech non emission headers shorty's with a y-pipe mandrel bent.
as far as the cat back goes. i think ill keep my exhaust system.
i bought it from an old friend. he had it on his firebird.
american thunder 3 inch cat back.
i would like to cut the tips a little because it seems that maybe the firebirds have a slightly longer bumper than the camaros. therefore the tips sitck out of the bumper about 5 inches.
i would like them either flush with the bumper or 1-2 inches behind the bumper.
i like the flushed look.
im not a big fan of the pipes sticking out 5 inches from the bumper.
what do you think?
and of course i will clean up the engine bay.
also
would you know where i could find a "block off plate"
for the evaporator core.
i would like to take that side of the heater case off but still retain my heater core and blower motor for the winter.
with no a/c
and as far as you know.
since this is a carburated setup. there is a TON of wires and wire harnesses.
would i still need the computer to run this car ?
or can i take the computer out and have the car still running .
im thinking its possible since the computer is no longer running the ignition system
let me know

back from the grave. being sick. no money kinda set me back.
update.
cleabed up the heads (g-body heads) 1.94 intake valves. forgot the spec for the exhaust.
cleaned up the block a little bit.
installed the heads, oilpan gasket, timing cover, intake and headers. i wanted to test fit the y-pipe before i dropped the motor in and found that it wouldnt fit.
just my luck...
lol enjoy.
