HELLO- CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS SWAP? I WAS WONDERING WHAT IS INVOLVED IN TAKING OUT A 305 AND PUTTING A BB 455 OLDS IN. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.. JOHN

 

About the same as dropping a Buick, Pontiac or Caddy engine in. There is no direct swap kit available so some fabrication and modifications are required. The transmission needs to be changed because the bellhousing bolt pattern is different.

Easiest swap is a BBC.

 

You should really search the engine swap forum. Myself and others have put Olds motors in these cars before. Pretty much all of your questions will be answered.

You have to make them.

I used ported big block manifolds...

 

Other than SBC and BBC swaps into a third gen, any other engine requires custom made headers.

search the forum for "Dropping an Olds. 455 in my '86 Firebird" it was very helpful to me. I'm also dropping in an olds, but a 1965 425 super rocket the ultra high compression version. and don't thank me "five7kid" helped me just today. im knew here so just tryin to help. this place seems friendly and helpful and i dont want to be a sourpuss around here. hope it helps!! When you search, keep it simple...

Go to the engine swap forum and search just for the word olds, you will then have a great place to start!
