I am swapping out a 3.1 to a 350 but i didn't take the motor out to label anything I found the altinator wires They were different but found them found the starter wires I have a purple wire i think is the starter silinoid wire but the starter doesn't work with it so wondering is it the wrong wire or is there something else wrong

Re: wireing for starter
Purple is the wire. There is a "starter enable" relay that must get turned on by the ECM via the VATS or PASS-key decoder module. You will most likely have to find that and by-pass it.
If you search you will find lots of VATS by-pass information.
I typically would just jumper the starter enable relay out. It has a yellow wire on one side and a dark green on the other. As long as you are running a carb engine with an older HEI distributor that will do the trick.

Found the issue a group of ground wires and the ecm Fuse
Cranks now

trans lines timing plugs and wires and fuel lines and hopefully it starts it's an 84 truck 5.7 with an Edelbrock intake carb and a comp cams 300 duration 500 lift cam should rumble pretty good with shorty headers
