engine wont crank on swap

So about a year ago I swapped out my 5.0L on my 85Z28 for a 5.7L gmgoodwrench. I put the engine and tranny together about a year ago and havnt had time to really work on it. So i try cranking the engine manually today and it wont budge at all. the starter, sparkplugs, distributor are all out and the shifter is in neutral. Does anyone have any idea what this problem could be>??

Re: engine wont crank on swap

have you always had the plugs/dizzy out? or did you just take them out?

the easiest way to turn these engines is to get a socket and torque wrench and stick it on the middle bolt to the harmonic balancer... then turn clockwise. if this does not work, it may be rusted... i dunno!

That is exactly what i did.... 5/8inch socket turned clockwise obviously.. all it is doing is tightening the harmonic balancer on the engine. To answer someone elses question... yes i did have the spark plugs in there the whole time, but i just took them out today. i still do not realize what could be keeping it from turning. I put the tranny in perfectly.. should i go through the trouble of taking it out agaiN?
