305 to 350
305 to 350
I have a 1988 Trans AM and I would like to know how difficult it would be to swap a 305 out for a 350. I've never done this type of work before. Is it as simple as unplugging all of the wires/hoses/connectors and dropping in another V8 and reconnecting everything I disconnected from the 305?

Hi 86Bird with the 88 TA hehe!
There's a ton of info about swaps in here, there's a search link up at the top and you can type in 305 to 350 and see what you get. I've done the same thing with my car and that's where I started.
You'll need to tell the guys more info, if your T/A is like mine with the computer controlled carb I can try and help with what I did, but I think 88's were FI? I tried to document it in the thread I have and all the great suggestions the guys gave me.
More info please

It's pretty much as simple as you described. The 350 TPI used different injectors and different knock sensor and module, as well as slightly different PROM tuning ("chip").
