rear main seals
rear main seals
I just bought a 350 for real cheap, it has a 2 piece rear main seal with a different crank end than my 305 tpi has. Can I put my 1 piece rear main seal with my crank from the 305 into the 350 so I can use the old starter and flywheel?

I've seen adapters to put 2-piece rear main seal cranks in 1-piece rear main seal blocks, but not the other way around.
You can buy a new crank for less that it costs to adapt. Just get a 2-piece rear main seal flywheel (flexplate if auto tranny) for '83-'85 application, and you can use your old starter. That's the cheapest route, and when you get right down to it, the "right" way to do it.
