Pre-86 Engines?
Will they fit into a newer Camaro like mine? It's a 1989 if you can't inferr that from my name, haha.

Re: Pre-86 Engines?
Well that's just the thing I dont know. Around my small town there's a bunch of junkyards and I gaurentee that almost 98% of the vehicles are before 86 when Chevrolet went to the centerbolt style heads. Im just learning about motors, and im trying to find what will work in my Camaro before i make a day pulling a 350 out of something in a junkyard. Thanks.

Centerbolt valve covers started in 1987. One-piece rear main seals started in 1986. Passenger side dip stick (an issue if you use stock 3rd gen exhaust manifolds) started in 1980. Accessory bolt holes on the ends of the heads started in 1969.
Those are the major players.

Re: Pre-86 Engines?
you can use one from a pre 86 you just need the right flexplate if you're going to run an auto. It won't be emissions legal and you can't keep the tbi, without the right intake.

It can be emissions legal, as the LO5 was used in Caprice passenger cars.
Which should be a hint about how to make it work.
