How well would a rebuilt 350 from a 1972 caprice perform in an 88 trans am?

With '72 Caprice heads and cam? About like an LG4. Maybe a little less power.

An '88 Trans Am engine is a roller cam engine with a one-piece rear main seal. The benefits of those two items far outweigh the cheapness of earlier flat-tappet cam engines, in my opinion.

Find yourself a later model roller cam engine.
