Any 327 fans out there?

I have come across a '67 327. The engine codes points it toward a 275 hp L30 motor. Seems to be in really good shape, and is coupled to a powerglide trans. I am in the process of taking it apart for dipping, crack checks, boring and honing. Anyone have any suggestions on this? Im looking to get about 375 hp out of this thing or more if possible. Will it drop right in my 91 rs convert? I know i could have picked up a 350, and maybe have been better off, but im liking the old 327 in the 3rd gen idea. Seems a bit nostalgic... 1st year camaro motor in a car a year shy of 25th anniversary.

Looking for pros and cons, friendly advice, and good or bad experiences anyone may have had. I dont expect to stand the tires, but im sure its a better choice than rebuilding the 305 tbi motor thats in it.

I also have a 396 in the barn, but im not sure i can squeeze it in. Again, any thoughts on that? Any help is appreciated.

You're going to hate it if you keep the powerglide on the street.

Don't use the 67 heads on it either, they won't mount your accessories.

327s have agood bore to stroke ratio, & make a goodcompromise between a torque "monster" and a HIGH winder.

Which don't mean much for a street engine.

Upgraded Vortec heads, Vortec RPM intake manifold, Comp XE274 or so cam, it'll run well.

Almost as well as a 350 with upgraded Vortec heads, Vortec RPM intake manifold, and a Comp XE274 or so cam. . .

Re: Any 327 fans out there?

Thanks for the input. Ill be rebuilding the powerglide, but im not sure i will use it with this motor. This is a project my son and i are working on, and we plan on doing as much as we can to this little motor. I didnt see any posts on if this thing will bolt right up though. Any thoughts there? We are going to pull all the crap out of the engine compartment to make it a clean motor only look. He doesnt want a/c anyway. Just something nice he can drive off to college in.

Everything will bolt up fine, it has the same mount locations as every SBC built since 1958.
