305 to 350

Getting ready to take out my 305 and have a couple questions

1. with taking none of the body apart like the whole front end will my engine and tranny still together have enough room to squeeze out.

2. I'm switching to a 350 turbo trans. I have to buy a different cross member correct.

3. will i also need a different trans tourque arm.

thanks for any help also whith the new motor the car is going to be computer free.

Re: 305 to 350

obviously your hood will have to come off period. and yes it will come out as one assembly with the trans crossmember off the car. yes a different torque arm and trans crossmember is needed for the particular trans your swapping to, but Spohn makes a complete crossmember and torque arm assembly for swaps like this and the torque arm mounts to the crossmember instead of the transmission.

Re: 305 to 350

had a couple other questions a forgot about. sorry.

4. Can you fit true duals on these and if yes will it fit with subframes that cross connect.

5. I'm assuming that if in need a different cross member i will also need a drive shaft.

Re: 305 to 350

yes a longer driveshaft is needed and true duals can be done, but its ALOT of work.. heres some examples ive come across and saved...

heres the pipes that goto the axle. note the h-pipe the person installed and the absence of cats..

heres what it looks like going over the axle. TIGHT fit

and heres the mufflers..

note* not my pics, just came across them to use as examples!

Do yourself a favor - take the radiator out first! No matter how careful you are, a hole always gets poked through with a swap!
