first engine swap, things i havent figured out yet.
i have a 91 bird tbi 305. Planning a new crate engine with mechanical hei and carb. When i do the engine swap what effect will be had on the cars computer system, it has the annoying 115mph limiter, will that dissappear? I understand the speedo is electronic will it still function, can i ditch the comp all together with no negative effects? I plan to keep the tranny 4l60, it seems great but ive read various threads about needing the vss for proper operation, does this vss require the computer? this will be my first swap out and any help would be appreciated. I will also be ditching all the smog crap, but plan to keep the a/c. Got the fuel delivery figured out and all the basics i understand fine; its just the computer crap, speed limiter, and higher level stuff I havent fully understood yet and I am lookin for some light.

The VSS has nothing whatsoever to do with the operation of the transmission. The ECM will no longer be controlling the TCC though, so you'll need to provide some other means.

ok what is tcc short for i dunno this one, also i have heard others saying that the tbi fuel pump cant provide enough fuel for anything past 300 hp; a normal fuel pump for a carb is around 8 psi while ive heard the tbi one is around 15 psi I plan on zz383 shortblock with bolt ons will i have trouble with my fuel keepin the stock tbi pump?

TCC is the torque converter clutch. I don't know how much HP the TBI pump will support, but 300 HP might be about right, maybe more. The 15 PSI of the TBI pump is far too much for a carb, and 8 PSI probably is too. If you keep the TBI pump, you'd need to use a regulator to lower the pressure to a more carb-friendly 6 PSI or so.
