As the V6 to V8 swap sticky says, the V6 transmission won't bolt to a V8.

If you get a V8 TH700R-4, it will bolt to the engine, and connect to everything else just like the V6 transmission did.

The 4.3l V6 TH700R-4 is the same as V8 transmissions, so if you find one of those from an S10 or Astrovan, those will also work.

Let's get this straight: Both the V6's and V8's use the TH700R-4 from 1984 on. But, the V6 TH700R-4 will not bolt to a V8. So, even though they are called the same thing, they are different. You can't make a V8 TH700R-4 from a V6 TH700R-4.
