I need a little help in swapping a 305 tbi into a 89 iroc that had a 350 tpi, need to know how difficult it will be as far as wiring, and gauge hook ups also puttung in the manual trans in too. Have engine and trans on hand as the 91 it is in is rusting away so any help is gladly welcomed, thanks

 

Make sure you get as much as possible from the donor car. As long as you get the engine harness and ECM you will be in good shape. Everything else from the L98 can be retained; accessories, fuel pump, radiator, fans, etc. You could even fab up a unique cold air intake if you have any of the TPI intake laying around.

 

I just can't help myself here, so I'm going to ask:

With 350's a dime a dozen and available anywhere, and a swap being a swap, why go 305 TBI from 350 TPI? TPI is way more programmable, and nothing replaces displacement.

I'm asking this because I have a solid running engine and trans and the car i am putting it into does not so yeah it would seem a little dumb to swap in a smaller engine come on think alittle hell I really don't mess with 350's because for the same price you can build up a 400 sbc
