Whoa, that's a first! (And I'm a farm boy.)

Most likely it's just the same stuff as you'd put in a car/truck 350.

Yea i guess what im trying to say is what are those parts that youll feel the diffrance in you car and not so badly in you wallet. Know what i mean the poor mans guide to a little more power type thing.

Also somthing i tried that seemed to work was a put toolean or somthing like that name in my gas. Its a paint thinner some racing guy told me this and it should boost your octane from 89 to like 110 so i dont know it seemed like it worked.

The member all4u had a write up on a homeade octane booster on the saturn on turbosaturns.net. I have to look for it but you use Toulene from sherwin williams with a bit of trans fluid and something else. He was able to run 3 more pounds of boost without knocking, so it must work. Hopefully he will respond to this. It would be good to get the original recipe.

#1 - heads. Most likely that engine has dished pistons, large chambers, and small valves. Even stock 305 heads would be better (I have a set you can have FOB if you're interested).

Next, cam. Most anything would be an upgrade.

Then, intake manifold. What are you running? What carb? (I assume it's got a carb)

Exhaust makes a big difference. Have you done anything with it?

The exhaust system is always a good place to start. It is the easiest and probably least expensive system to modify. Anything that makes your engine breathe easier will net you a performance increase. You will probably need to enrich your jetting to get the maximum benefit from an exhaust system upgrade.

Running higher octane fuel than is required for your engine will yield no significant benefits. In fact, it will probably just make your engine run hotter than normal.

Higher octane fuel is primarily intended to suppress detonation. If your engine runs okay with a lower octane fuel, running with higher octane fuel is basically just a waste of money unless you can buy it cheaper.

A good low restriction air intake system complements at free flowing exhaust system. An open element air cleaner improves airflow into the engine but it also sucks in hot air from the engine compartment.

Every 10 degree F decrease in intake air temperature will yield about a 1% increase in power.

A large diameter stock type air cleaner with the snorkel ducted to a cold air source might not look as cool but might produce more power. A dual snorkel unit should be even better.

Internal friction is probably the worst power robber in any engine. It takes power to overcome friction. Reduce internal friction and you can use that power somewhere else like the rear wheels.

Roller tip rockers are not very expensive and they are easy to install. Various manufacturers claim a 15-25 hp increase from simply installing them. You should probablyl take thatwith a grain of salt but they would definitely net you a few ponies. One nice thing about this mod is that it will complement any future mod you make in your valve train.

Engine accessories such as the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and anything else driven by belts off the crankshaft use up a lot of power. Underdrive pulleys will slow these accessories down and free up some power at the rear wheels.

Well i guess to start i got vortec heads and the cam is for a rv so its big enough and the intake i cant really tell you much other then its edelbrock and the carb is a 1405 600cfm edelbrock for the exaust i got flowtech headers with like a 2.5 in pipe all the way back single exhaust to the normal 2 tip pipe. So thats what im running if it helps and my car usually runs at like 180 with a mechanical gauge.

Re: what are Good performance upgrades for the money

I'd say you're already limited by the exhaust system not being 3", and that carb. An Edelbrock 600 doesn't flow as much as any other 600, because edelbrock tests the flow dry, while Holley and everyone else tests wet. Put that thing on EBay and try a Holley 670 street Avenger. Or a BG Road Demon Jr. 625 or 725. Still want more? Get headers like Hooker 2055 with 1 5/8" primaries, and Edelbrock's RPM AirGap or Weiand's AirStrike intake.
