tbi - carb??
swapped out old motor and installed carb... but it wont run. my 88 had the fuel pump in the tank, and the other motor i dropped in has it on the block. i was told to just get a fuel regulator. but it still wont produce and gas from the tank. i replaced feul pump on the black along with the filter.. and suggestions?

Is the in-tank electric pump getting power? Is it producing pressure?

It means it's getting power. It doesn't mean it's producing pressure.

Re: tbi - carb??
If I remember right, the pump will quit after about 2 seconds, and stay off until recieving a signal from the ECM. I'm not sure if it's right, but I had the same problem with my car. I took out the old pump and made a pickup to go in place of it, then used another pump. The mechanical one on the block should suffice.

Re: tbi - carb??
Have you never pulled the pump out of a camaro tank? You can't pull fuel through an un-powered electric pump, unless you drill the guts out.
You can direct wire 12 volts to the pump from an ignition hot, and then make a loop between the feed and return lines in the engine bay. The feed is larger than the return, so you can then use a plastic T in the loop, to feed the carb. This worked fine for my '88 Camaro when I replaced the TBI 305 with a 300 horse 350 with a Q-Jet. This works because the return is smaller than the feed.
