i need info
ok so i decided to ditch the 327 and 454 and just get a regular 305 ho. but ive had many people tell me it will take alot of work to change a motor that has a throttle body to one that is carburated. my iroc is an 87 and it has a 305 tpi. the motor i got for it is a 305 ho. what kind of things to i have to change for this motor to work in my car
Re: i need info
I isn't that much work. I think it's harder to go the other way (carb to efi). Have you read this yet? https://www.thirdgen.org/carbswap Some good info there.
The motor swap should be pretty straight forward. Basicly remove and replace.
As for the fuel pump. You can use the stock one, and run a bypass regulator to send the excess back to the tank. However I have heard of this not lasting very long though. IDK. I've swapped to carb on a TBI motor and used the in-tank pump. Haven't had any problems with it yet.
