The cables are different.

Keep it TPI and save that hassle.

Re: can i use throttle and kickdown cables from tpi?

i appreciate your strong feeling towards keeping the tpi setup, but i don't know enough about diagnosing fuel injection and dealing with ecu programming. Also i've been doing a lot of searching for making good power with tpi and it's way too costly and too much work. I've made up my mind and am sticking with tried and true carburation. When something goes wrong, and they always do, at least i can troubleshoot things myself. I know i can drop a 400 hp 383 in and get it running pretty good and i like the simplicity. So that being said, i'd like a solution to my original question. Thanks

I am switching from crossfire injection to a carb and ran into the same problem. It is going to depend on what intake you use. I had to get new cables and a special bracket for the cables. However, the throttle cable is about 1/4 inch too short so I have to figure out a way to extend the cable.

Tell the parts house you want throttle and TV cables for an 84 Z/28. They were carberated that year. The company that made your carb will have the brackets that you need to properly attach them. I changed the 305 to a 383 with a holley 770 carb. It took two seperate pieces for the attachment. One actually holds both the cables, the other hooks up to the throttle itself to properly allign the TV cable.
