Crossfire to Carb, wiring harness/computer?
Hi Guys,
Last year we pulled the poor running crossfire setup from my 82TA and replaced it with a Holly carb and intake. The 200c transmission was also removed and replaced with a TH350. The car runs great. However, there is a mess of wires dangling in my engine bay from the old xfire setup.
I am wondering if the whole harness and computer can be removed, or if there is anything else that might be effected if we remove. I currently have the body apart for paint, and have easy access to the harness.
Harness in question is the one I am holding onto in the picture:
Here you can see the harness coming out of the dash into the engine bay:

Unhook that harness from the ECM. Unclip the bulkhead connector from the inside. Pull the harness out of the car.

five7kid is right. I have that whole harness minus 2 wires pulled out. The only reason those 2 wires are still there is i can't find the other end of em (they connect behind the engine.)

Your IGN and gauges are ran thru the C100 connector near the booster
The harness can be cut down to bare bones pretty easily

Starting at 9 o'clock going clockwise
Grd (Wrong color had to splice)
Alt and alt gauge
Coolant gauge
Starter, IGN and interior power wires
Oil pressure gauge
IGN coil and tach
Fan relay fuse
Fuel pump relay fuse
Fan and fuel relays are engaged by the ECM but this can be manually overridden via switch

Bringing this one back up from the dead.
I have had this car switched over to a carb and running great for a few years now and never have really bothered...BUT....
Took the whole harness out (I personally didn't, my friends who put the new 350 in the car did). Not 100% sure exactly what they did, but the car is running great.
The only two things that do not work are the temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge. How might I re-connect these w/o going through the factory harness??

Run new wires through the firewall from the appropriate terminal on the dash cluster connector to the temp and OP sender units on the engine
