Good luck! Hope your fabrication skills are sharpened. Your gonna need to do some major hacking and welding, to get it under the hood, trans into the tunnel, and exhaust not scraping.

i have always wanted to see a good running diesel in a camaro, i think it would be sweet, but it would be a lot of work, i dont think that duramax is any bigger than a BBC, it just weighs more......id think it would be pretty quick

Re: duramx!!!! black smoke
this would be hard to do a duramax is a heavy engine, major front suspension upgrades not to mention the car would sit higher off the ground to have proper clearance (you have to bodylift a suburban to get a duramax to fit)
but Ill quit discouraging you "good luck were all counting on you"

There was a mustang in drag week with a duramax engine in it and it ran low 10s and it had a 9'' or an 8.8 rear in the car. Google 08 drag week.

Re: duramx!!!! black smoke
I think it would be great.
You are correct, there are no limits here. If the engine physically clears the parts it needs to clear most, like the glass, hood and crossmember, there is no reason you can't cut it up and weld it back together. You can even fab a crossmember if you need to.
I'm not sure if I can post links or not, but just check out 'diesel drag racing' or 'diesel performance' videos on the net, it's pretty cool.
As long as you realize the money pit and time frame you are into, it can be a lot of fun and good for your careers if it doesn't interfer too much.

Re: duramx!!!! black smoke
Maybe look into one of the older 6.2L diesels. They look almost exactly like a small block chevy and im pretty sure itd be a lot easier then a duramax, I think the motormounts are even the same or at least very similar.

Re: duramx!!!! black smoke
Better yet why not go with an 871 Jimmy diesel out of an old cement truck. That big 871 huffer sticking thru the hood would look great and the sound of those old Jimmys would turn anybody's head. And you are right about your spelling.

4.11 gears?? Isn't that the total opposite of what you want? You're not going to be pulling a 20,000 lb load of dirt. Doesn't it make more sense to go with lamest gears you can find, ie, 2.41 or 2.29?

Hahaha...Im glad someone else here knows the vette video is fake... Sheesh...
This isnt fake however...no sound dubbing here...and that black smoke isnt photoshopped. haha.

Probably the closest thing you'll find to being a cool well running diesel car swap in my opinion.
Ill never say things cant be done. Ive seen some crazy stuff done to cars with a whole ton of people saying it couldnt be. So Im sure this could be accomplished...however I have my doubts in this particular instance. Its going to take a LOT of work to make a thirdgen support a motor like that.
Good luck though if you are actually serious and start to work on it!

Dunno what diesel is in this Vette, but.....Diesels in Vettes are possible, even though this isn't a C5/6.

theres not enough room under the hood of a vette for a duramax, let alone a twin turbo one
