3800 Series II in a 3rd gen?

Hey, so I'm considering pulling out my LG4 and throwing in a 3800 Series II V6 from a 4th gen camaro. Has anyone done this? Is there anything I should know ahead of time? What extra parts would I need from the 4th gen?

Re: 3800 Series II in a 3rd gen?

done it. VSS gauge cluster for ease of splicing in the new harness leads. You'll need to fab up some new frame-block brackets. Use a 97+ pcm so you can use either Digital Horse Power or HP Tuners to program it, & also get rid opf teh silly VATS/PASSKEY thing. Custom make y-pipe, don't use the 97~98+ "header" style exhaust manifolds, use the ugly earlier style, they'll clear the frame rails. I also had to fab up an engine bay fuse box (pretty easy really) and routed the wiring under the pass fender. 4L60 swaps no problem, and the ***speedo can be programmed w/everything else.

*** this is why VSS gauage/cars are better for this swap, it just makes things easier.... at least that what I think.
