help with 1989 tpi
Hello there. I have a 85 el camino with a 1989 350 tpi motor that was installed by someone else. i have noticed that there is no MAF sensor or no MAP sensor?? I thought you needed one of these for engine load? Or is it possible that it is using N alpha fuel injection that is just using the tps and engine speed? Would it be beneficial to install one of these systems? the car seems to run fine, maybe a little rich, the guy has been driving it like this for years? any input would be greatly appreciated. thank you

I would think that with out a MAP sensor the car would have no Ba**s when you press the gas. Because the map sensor tells the computer to turn the injectors on longer so if it was up to me i would think you might get a little more power with one. Idk about the MAF though i do kno some cars cant run with out them though

The MAF sensor is a round plastic piece installed in the intake tract with a 5-wire electrical plug in the bottom.
The MAP sensor is a small black rectangle connected to a vacuum port on the rear passenger side of the plenum.
Are you sure you dont have either one?
