umm... 2 right side heads????

Ok so here is my question... I pulled heads off my dad's 1973 chevy c10 truck... that used to be on his 1978 Camaro... with screw in studs... pretty good heads for my app...

Seems i have to right side heads though...

The one on the left needs to have a hole where my finger is... but the other side looks like the one on the right... but you flip the one on the right over and it looks like the one on the left...

Question: Do you think its possible to have it tapped or am i better off buying a new set of heads...?

Every SBC has two right side heads.

Also has two left side heads.

They're the same heads. Compare them with the same ends showing, they will have the same type ends.

Yes, you should get new heads. A simple set of Vortecs will be highly superior to anything the factory put out in 1978.

Re: umm... 2 right side heads????

not using vortec heads... already have everything for the motor...

done feel like using self-aligning rocker arms... not shelling out $650-2000 for heads... if i have working heads.

then another 150 for rocker arms.

Already have everything purchased to put the motor togeter... i realized that yes the heads can be left or right.. but was more or less wondering if you can buy new "old" style heads with the holes casted into them or should i just have a machine shop tap me a hole..and will it be ok? like no tap into a water jacket.. or anything.

Not a problem. As long as they don't drill too deep.
