clearence issues
I hope this is the right spot to post this if not I am sorry. I just finished swapping out a 305 in my 86 firebird to a 355 with vortec heads and an edelbrock performer rpm intake. Now I am having trouble finding an air cleaner that will allow me to shut my factory hood. Has anyone else had this issue and could you give me some advice on where to get one or pics of any mods you have done to make it work. I have a powerbulge hood and I like the looks of it and don't want to switch hoods. Thanks for any help.

A drop base air cleaner usually does the trick, unless you have a spacer under the carb.

Re: clearence issues
I have tried a 14" drop base with no luck. It was two large. So I tried a 9" one but it didn't have a drop base. Still no luck. So today I bought the Edelbrock triangle one. I haven't tried it yet. All the parts store here only have the 14" with a drop base. What size did you use and where did you find it. Again this is a 86 bird so the front drops of sharper than a camaro.
