Hey guys, I had to pull the Chevy 350 out of my 87' Formula do to engine probs, but I've been reading about Pontiac swaps and it got me thinking. I found a good running Pontiac 400 with 6x heads cheap and am considering a swap. However, I was wondering what the power difference would be between a VERY mild Chevy 350 and a stock (year unknown) Pontiac 400 with 6x heads? What about the same deal, but if the Pontiac had a mild cam? The Chevy is a 69-79 350 truck motor, pretty mild cam (maybe, PO intalled, no specs only a vid of it running), Holley 4bbl, Edelbrock Performer intake, and stock manifolds (from the original LG4 I believe). I've already read all over how the Pontiac would be more expensive to build up, but I'd probably just throw in a cam and some other small things, so I didn't think anything of it. I've also read all about the fabbing needed for the swap. Not really leaning one way or another just curious about power differences. However, if the Pontiac would run slower, I'll probably just fix the 350 as it obviously wouldn't justify the work to swap. The guy selling the Pontiac lives in PA, but is coming my way and is willing to drop it off, but I have to make a decision by this Friday! Thanks for any help!!

 

stockish i would put a sbc back in. 6x heads blah. if you want the 400 in you will need a trans adapter,motor mounts, ps will need brackets made and a v groove pully alt also.
