switch from 305 cross fire to a 68 vette 327! MISSION COMPLETE!
so here it is.
i got this 82 z28 which was a v8 cross fire injection.
i bought it and it blew up on me. buddy of mine had a 327 out of a vette in his racecar and offered me to let me use it.
well after almost 1 week of hard work, and i mean hard, we finally got her running, have to work some little bugs out, need to change the flywheel and the starter yet, but otherwise she runs great
i thank roy sheets, for being there for me when i needed ya and was ready to take her to the junkyard, lol.

If the pics are on the internet, this is what you do to display them here:

Just put the above 'img' tags on the link to the pic and it will show it here.
Anyway... the first swap is always the hardest and worst one to do lol. Its usually the most memorable though. My and my cousin spent about 2 weeks putting the 350 in my Camaro when I got it about 5 or 6 years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Now I can do it in that same car in only a couple hours all alone. Its quite easy now that I've done it a few times. Same with swapping rear ends - When I broke my first one, it took me and my dad most of a weekend to do. Now I can do it all alone in about 2 hours - drive in, drive out.

ive always thought about doing a 327 TPI swap into my 86 iroc with its current 305 swap, since i found a 327 on craigslist acouple months back for 40 bucks. but instead i found a deal on a new 383.
anyways did you keep the crossfire injection or go carb? i know alot of people that hate their crossfire setup

90mph in 2nd!!?? what kinda gears are in that thing?
anyways dont baby it, you gotta push it hard and seat those rings early, otherwise it wont make as much power, and might burn oil.
congrats on the swap. and if you have the pics, click go advanced next to the reply buttom and upload them from the web or your hardrive.

thats true, but i think it was a hydraulic flat tappet block, and if they broke it in correctly by idling it at about 2000 rpms for about half an hour both the rings and the camshaft should be properly broken in

damn tatt, i wish there were more chicks like u over here!
gurk, i did overlook the cam situation. flat tappets do require a bit more break in and additional additives. good point, thanks.
however, i still think its good to beat the **** out of them, once the cam is good and christened. nothing seats rings like compression.

Re: switch from 305 cross fire to a 68 vette 327! MISSION COMPLETE!
well, i have no dyno runs to date. but im guessing (as well as my machinist) around 450 to 500 N/A. top that with a 150 dose of funny gas.
i tend to stay on the conservetive side, so i will guess around 450 n/a and 550 juiced. but i havent got to use the juice yet. kinda scared of blowing the rear end out.
next engine i build will be for boost, thats for sure.
