92 RS WITH 350 SWAP WORTH KEEPING?
i have a 92 rs with a 350 swap. the cast reads 14016379. i did some research and found out this is a older motor from the 70s. it currently has a 600 holley. the motor runs ok but leaves me constintly getting dusted by other cars. when a honda beats you with your chick in the car its time to check out other options. so my question is this... is this motor worth keeping and building or should i sell it, junk it, or give it away? my original intentions were to stroke to and do a budget build but i was under the impression it was another engine. im kind of new to this but pick things up rather quickly. if you have experience with this motor or have seen it make decent numbers and or times please let me know what all was done to it and aprox cost. thanks

Sure it is, make it a 383, get some heads and a cam and you've got a roller! Do your homework on heads available and cam. I would get a kit from Edelbrock or some other company, even if it's a 2 bolt main block, unless you are pushing over 500hp and racing alot you should be fine...

i think it is well worth keeping. we took an older engine and made it a 406 small block and put it in a 91rs. talk about not getting duted. low elevens is nothing to sneeze at. i honestly believe that it will come down to how much work and money you are willing to spend. to me it was like when i had a truck. 2002 chevy extended cab that ran low twelves. now i have a third gen. i want it to be the same. they will have a hard time telling someone that a 17 year old third gen kick there Z06's but.

well then maybe i will just keep it. would there be differences in keeping this one and getting a new one? (cost wise) heads cam things like that will all get built up down the road but if i do these things to this motor and do these thing to a newer one am i gonna see any differences in numbers? or is a block a block? thanks for the input guys.

i think it would be cheaper than the 99 vortec engine i am building. if you have the time take it out. take it to a machine shop and have it done up.

i remember those moments. its been a while but it will soon come again. i was just worried about the fact that it made around 145hp stock. i know alot of power was prob trapped in the heads tho. well im gonna check the area and see what i can come across through craigslist and friends and if nothing new comes along then ill just build this one. thanks for the help.
