86 Camaro build

Hello everyone,

I am pretty new to the site, I signed up couple months ago when I first bought my camaro. Its been a project for a couple of months now and I am nearing the end. I wanted to get your guys opinion on what I should expect when I put it on the dyno, and what I would get at the track. I swapped the stock 305 for a 350.

Here are the main components.

350 block
10.63 compression w/ forged internals
225 cc patriot Heads
750cfm holley carb
486 lift voodoo cam
posi rear w/ 4.11 gears
wieand team g intake
1.6 ratio roller rockers
3inch hooker headers
msd distributor and cdi box

here are some of the pictures, I haven't taken any new pictures in the last month

That engine bay is looking quite nice, my friend. Beautiful. What kind of power are you putting down?

Re: 86 Camaro build

As of right now I am not sure of the power, that's why I was asking for others opinions on how much do they think I was making compared to the parts I listed. I'm hoping to get some where around or over 350hp.

Oh ok, I thought the pics were of your new parts all put together and installed and running. Whatever is in that engine bay looks clean and nice, though.

Re: 86 Camaro build

oo, your right about that. All the parts are in and the car is running great. My last part to finish is the rear end. Once thats done its going to a speed shop for a tune and dyno. Thanks for the compliments tho.

You're welcome. It's hard to top having shiny new parts all put together and working under the hood of your car.

Have more details on the cam?

Those are mighty big heads. Off the top of my head I'd say your cam is about a tenth of an inch short on lift and commensurate duration to take advantage of them. I think your dyno sheet will show you short of torque in the low range without being able to make up for it on the top end. Surely would have more power than a stock 305, but smaller heads or more cam would be a better match.

Yea those cams are really small for now, this is going to be me and my dads car and he doesnt really know how to drive stick, I figured that ill just put a small cam in there until he gets good at it and then later on ill throw a .525 lift cam or somewherea round there.
