3.1 (189) to a 305 or 350?
I have a 1990 camaro, with a V6 3.1. The Block is shot. brand new heads on it and it won't stop leaking coolant between the block and the head. I am about to replace the block on it. And im thinking if im about to tear it down for the third time this week and take the block out I may as well just put something with more performance in it.
What will have to be changed to convert to a 305 tpi from a 189.

I know the ECM has to be changed can i just find a new one and plug it in? And Accersories? will brackets for A/C, Altenator, Power steering, etc. still fit? from the 189. Trans, its from the factory, 700R4 (I think), will it work with a 305? or the 350.

Start by reading the V6 to V8 swap sticky in the top section of this forum.
There basically isn't any difference in the work whether you put in a 305 or 350.

Then you might want to check out a 3.4l swap. Detailed on the V6 forum.
