Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Fuel injected '83? Must be crossfire.
Are you pulling engine and transmission, or only engine?
If only engine, just put the chain from rear corner to opposite front corner. You can use intake mount bolts, the bolt holes in the end of the heads, whatever.
If you want to get fancy, use two chains - bolt the ends to the ends of the heads, one chain on the front and one chain on the back, and hook them both in the middle of the engine to lift.

Yes, but if you pull engine and tranny together, you need the hook toward the back of the engine, and that will tilt the engine side-to-side.
Have you considered a tilt sling?

A beam with a chain on each end. Bolt the chains to the engine. The part that hooks to the hoist is on a screw so you can adjust the balance of the load you're lifting, or tilt one end higher than the other.
Also called a load leveler. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/OTC-4305/

got it, Cool thanx so much, the engine is in fair condition i was hoping to put on ebay and some money from it, the motor i wantr to put in is a 383 strocker small block. i know that they run from 6,500 to 13,000 all depending on what you have on it. I hope to find one around 4,000 to 6,000 even. Do you know if GM performance 383 engines come also in a turn key set up , or is it just the 383 block no heads or etc?

I don't believe GM sells a turn-key version. Somebody might.
I haven't seen a turn-key package that I'd buy. Never seen a decent carb in those packages.
