Car: Transformed 86 Coupe
Engine: 400 sbc
Transmission: 700R4
I would imagine a shop would charge a minimum of $250 but that is just a guess and you probably would not get all the wires and hoses labeled. I just pulled my V6 out with a friends help and it took us 3-1/2 hours total including labeling. It was much easier than I thought.

As a follow-on question to the motor pull, is it easier to remove the motor with the auto trans -- or pull just the block and leave the trans in the car.

around 30 bucks to rent a engine lift and chain. It is not hard to to at all. The most annoying part for me was disconnecting the cooling lines from the oil cooler and draining the radiator.
