In your opinion, good idea?

I bought my 1987 Camaro a few months ago. The 305 Carb it has in it is on it's last leg. I re-did the valve timing because at an idle it would drown and eventually die [very embarrassing at lights]. I bought a 305 Iroc engine [Carburetor] for this beast. Which I will be swapping soon.

It's not an Iroc by the way. I'm not sure what it is. Berlinetta possibly. Some v6 was in this car before the previous owner put the v8 in it and messed with ALL the wiring.

I'm hoping to get that new engine in, change the gear ratio and the rear end to a posi with 3:55 gears. As well as run true dual exhaust with a 2" pipe. Scrap the catalytic converter. Currently has 15" tires, planning on getting 18" in the back, 17" in the front with low profile tires.

So, I'm curious what other people have done or any suggestions? I'm open to ideas. =] Here are pictures.

car looks nice, but if I was going to do an engine swap, I'd go ahead and do a 350. same amount of work, more power.

Yeah, I got a really good price for the 90 iroc motor though. Couldn't pass it up. Low miles and complete with pullies for 750$ Maybe I could punch it out to a 350 some day at a later date? I'm 20 and a cook in a restaurant...So I don't make much money, this motor cleaned me out for now.

Re: In your opinion, good idea?

FYI, you cannot puch a 305 out to a 350, the cylinder walls are too thin.

does the '90 iroc motor have an intake? if not, the intake on the other motor may need to be modified to fit on the '90 model heads.
