tranny swap

I am wanting to put a non-lockup th-350 in my 91rs. It is not fuel injected so I don't have to worry about the computer.I need to know if i can change tail housings because I have a bad th-350 out of a 82 Z-28 but it has the lockup converter. Or do I have to buy a kit? Thanks

? #1 I hope you put the TH-350 in the 82z, Because 82 Z's and birds didn't come with TH350'S. They only had TH200's that year. Gm didn't put 700's in F bodies until 83. If someone did swap in a TH350 tranny then they have an aftermarket torque arm mount or they made their own. On another note if it is a 200 then the tail shaft is one piece and cant be removed. As for the lock up vs non lock up, Find a non lock up th350 and put it in, With the non lock up you attach one vac line and the shifter cable and your done. Lock up I haven't dealt with(sorry).
Any other ? let me know.

FWIW, the lockup TH350C had two different electrical connector types. But, one of them is identical to the TH200 type, and either one will fit in the housing. As spud says, though, if you indeed have a TH350C in there now it's because somebody swapped it in; the good news is the tailshaft housing will exchange with the TH350.

Although 3rd gens didn't come with TH350's, it seems I recall some other GM product (w/Buick V6) that did have TH350's torque arm mounts. Perhaps the 70's Skyhawks?
