Welcome aboard thirdgen.org, and thank you for your service.
The current 305 carb set-up is actually pretty good for mostly highway service. The first things that should be changed are the exhaust (every last piece of it) and air cleaner (replace the single snorkel with dual snorkel). That should be done before you ever consider a 350.
After that, a 350 shortblock will be fine, along with your current heads, carb and distributor. It will all bolt to a 350 shortblock, and the 350 will bolt to the TH700R-4 just like the 305. The computer will be fine. The carb secondaries would benefit from better rods & hanger.

Re: 84 Z28 305 to 350 Help needed!!!
Thank you for your help the reason i am taking out the 305 when my wife bought it from the guy told her it had a thrown rod. so i just figured it would be nice to have a little more power and i won't cost to much more to rebuild a 350. so with useing the old heads so get them rebuilt so just bolt them right up? do you have any suggestions on what i could use to get a little more power out of the 350 have around 3000 dollars just for the motor? thank you again for your help!
