Pretty much. But, it wouldn't really be "old school" then, though, would it. . .
The primary issue is the angle of the center two intake mount bolts on each side of the intake. From 1987-up, those bolts are at 72 degrees. From 1955 to 1986, they were at 90 degrees like the rest of the bolts.
Other than that, the dipstick moved from the drivers side to the passenger side in 1980, and the f-body driver side V8 exhaust manifold sits right where the dipstick went in the earlier engines. And, the rear main seal was "2 piece" from 1955 to 1985, and when they went to a "1 piece" rear main seal in 1986 on, it changed the end of the crank and requires a different flexplate (automatic transmission) or flywheel (manual transmission).
You need to check the TBI forum for issues going from 305 TBI to 350 TBI. The computer needs help.

A 350 TBI flexplate will fit your 305, but not your 350. And, it would be the larger version, which you don't want.
Get a flexplate for an '83-'85 f-body 305 automatic application. It will be 12-3/4" diameter, 153-tooth, for a 2-piece rear main seal crank.

- Carefully bend the dipstick tube so it fits behind the exhaust manifold
- Lokar dipstick with flexible tube
