My LB9 is getting worn (starting to use oil) and I would like to start working on a replacement for it before one is absolutley needed. Any ideas for complete engine and transmission replacements would be great. I've dicked around with the electronics on this engine trying to get it to run right since I bought it from a former ametuer modifier and just can't get it to run right. I found receipts that came with the car for a shift switch and performance cam shaft but I'm not sure what all has been done to it. It may not even be a LB9, how could I tell other than using the VIN#. I'm on the edge of ditching the whole computer system. Anyone know how I can identify my transmission just by looking at it? I want to do the engine and transmission swap at the same time so I need some advice on what trans to look for for reliable service. The automatic in there now up to 160,000 miles and I know it will need work soon. How would a small block 305 with carb and 5spd manual run out as a daily driver? Any part combinations that can be recommended would be greatly appreciated as I am a novice at this and have only worked on imports to this point.
